Building on the momentum of the historic 2015 Paris Agreement to combat climate change, and the recent release of Al Gore’s documentary film An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power and its accompanying book, The Climate Reality Project Indonesia invites its friends, partners, and supporters to organize movie screenings for employees, customers and students in addition to books giving to selected recipients.
The activities proposed is a powerful opportunity to help raise awareness and to catalyze a global solution to the climate crisis by making urgent action a necessity across every level of society.

A survey by BBC Media Action’s Climate Asia Project published in 2014 indicates that current efforts to communicate climate change in Indonesia are having an effect. People who had received communication were much more likely to feel informed about how to respond to the changes they noticed.
Among a number of non-state actors in Indonesia that work on climate change communication is The Climate Reality Project Indonesia, a branch of The Climate Reality Project that supports the work of more than 300 Climate Leaders in Indonesia that underwent trainings by former US Vice President Al Gore and renowned scientists in several countries around the world.
The latest and most effective climate change communication tools are the recently released Al Gore’s documentary film An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, and its accompanying book with the same title.
An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power
Former US Vice President Al Gore’s landmark 2006 documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, received widespread critical acclaim and brought international attention to the climate crisis. It makes the compelling case that global warming is real, man-made, and its effects will be cataclysmic if we don’t act now.
Al Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way: often humorous, frequently emotional, and always fascinating.
The new 2017 documentary, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, is a riveting and rousing follow-up that shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution. Vice President Al Gore continues his tireless fight traveling around the world training an army of climate champions and influencing international climate policy.
Cameras follow him behind the scenes – in moments both private and public, funny and poignant – as he pursues the inspirational idea that while the stakes have never been higher, the perils of climate change can be overcome with human ingenuity and passion.
Accompanying the release of the film, Vice President Gore has also released a new book with the same title. He brings together cutting-edge research from top scientists around the world; 200 photographs and illustrations to visually articulate the subject matter; and personal anecdotes and observations to document the fast pace and wide scope of global warming.
The book also offers a comprehensive how-to guide on exactly how we can change the course of fate. With concrete, actionable advice on topics ranging from how to run for office to how to talk to children about climate change, An Inconvenient Sequel will empower people to make a difference--and lets them know how exactly to do it.
Movie Screenings & Booktalks
In collaboration with Paramount Pictures, a Premiere at Cinema XXI in Jakarta is planned for Monday, August 21 to be attended by an audience estimated at 800 people representing the media, decision makers, influencers, and climate leaders. Prior to the screening there will be short remarks by Climate Reality Indonesia and a public figure. There is also an option for doorstop interviews by invited bloggers and journalists. The movie will hit select Indonesian cinemas on Friday August 25.
The book is available at Periplus Bookstore, and a booktalk will be held at its Plaza Indonesia outlet in Jakarta on Thursday, August 24. It will be a much smaller event of 50 people but with esteemed speakers that include the President’s Special Envoy for Climate Change; Nana Firman, an Indonesian climate leader featured in the book; and Cathy Sharon, a famous Indonesian artist.
Movie screenings and booktalks will recreate a buzz surrounding the issue of global climate change, its impacts and how to address the issue. Media coverage will also reach a national audience who will be encouraged to enhance their climate change actions.
Policy makers and lawmakers will review whether their actions are sufficient enough for such a big issue. Climate Change conversations will increase, as well as the number of moviegoers for the documentary
Companies and organizations that organize movie screenings and books giving will have the benefit of being recognized as leading proponents to spread the truth about the climate crisis and the importance of implementing solutions together.
