Binus University offers study programs, which give students time and space to decide which major they are willing to take by considering some innovative combinations. Some facilities have been prepared to support learning-teaching activities in dynamic and comfortable campuses.
Each student of Binus University has become a member of Binusian community. Being a Binusian is not only a choice to reach an education with additional skill in technology application but also a first decision of an effective step.
Octaviana Rombe, a climate leader trained in Melbourne in 2014, is a resercher at Binus University, focusing on a new sustainable material for design industry.
She organized an international guest lecture with Matthew Boms as the speaker and community sharing session with The School of Design at Binus University.
In front of more than 200 Binusians, Matthew presented climate reality slide show and Octaviana, as RumaJapara co-founder shared the efforts of Binus University Schooof Design in starting creative workshop, sustainable community development, and research in Jepara.
RumaJapara creative workshop was established in 2015 with a mission to preserve the legacy of Indonesian local wisdom that has existed in Jepara, Central Java, for hundreds of years.
The craftsmanship to create wood furniture inherited from generation to generation is inseparable from Jepara people’s way of life. But, recently this craftsmanship has slowly begun to fade. RumaJapara together with local craftsman, mastering the knowledge of woods and carving, started the humble workshop to share the knowledge for people who loves working and designing with carving with the traditional skills and motifs or go further to contemporary approach.
