Sukardi Rinakit, the President of Indonesia’s Special Staff on Politics and the Press is the President’s speech writer. He is also on the Presidential Communication Team, providing information about the latest news and strategic issues of public concern to President Jokowi. Updated information is provided to ensure that the President keeps abreast with the current situation.
Mariza Hamid, a climate leader first trained in Jakarta in 2011, is the Assistant to Sukardi Rinakit. She is also active in the Presidential Communication Team.
One of the team’s popular program is Sudut Istana (The Palace Corner), a talkshow on TVRI (national television) and RRI (national radio) aimed at the general public for easier access to information on government policies, particularly the President’s focus in a recent week.
Sudut Istana speakers who carry the message from the Palace come from various backgrounds, among others, Cabinet Ministers, Head of Government Agencies, as well as those working in the Palace such as President's Special Staff, Palace's gardeners, and catering staff. On September 2016 Rachmat Witoelar, the President’s Special Envoy was the resource person on Sudut Istana at TVRI, while Amanda Katili Niode, a climate leader was interviewed by RRI for Sudut Istana.
Several of Indonesia’s climate leaders along with Matthew Boms had a lunch meeting at Sukardi Rinakit’s Office, hosted by Mariza Hamid. Lunch followed by a visit to the State Palace, built in 1796, to see solar panels in the compound and the palace garden with many trees that help absorb carbon dioxide.
